Orientitis... it's an Orient thing

- no more standing?

STAND UP FOR THE

NORTH TERRACE

A wet day on the North Terrace

At the moment, fans like these can enjoy a Saturday afternoon getting soaked on the North Terrace, the only standing area left in the ground.

However, according to the latest, ever-changing dribbles of news from the powers-that-be at the Club, the North Terrace is soon to be knocked down, to be replaced by a single-tier stand.   Due to light requirements of local residents behind the  ground, a second tier cannot be added at a later date.

This means:

There is no good reason for this to happen, except for the outdated view that standing is always unsafe.   That is a ridiculous position.  It was put forward by people who were not football fans in the hysteria surrounding the truly appalling circumstances of the deaths at Hillsborough in 1989.

With enough crush barriers and strict limits on the numbers allowed on to terraces, standing is perfectly safe.

Orientitis... it's an Orient thing urges everyone who cares about the right to stand at Orient to write to the Club now.

We are asking:

Write to:

Mr John Goldsmith, Stadium Director, Leyton Orient Football Club, Brisbane Road, Leyton, London E10 5NE

or fax: 020 8926 1110

or e-mail: orient@bigfoot.com (ATTN: John Goldsmith)
